Practice Makes a Difference

Hands-on practice in giving oral presentations and receiving feedback on one’s performance is an important element in a teacher training programme emphasizing methods of improving teachers’ lecturing skills in English. Such communication skills are both verbal and non-verbal. The verbal, or linguistic, focus of such hands-on practice sessions can be on fluency, pronunciation, grammar, interaction, and the use of signposts. The non-verbal focus can be on eye contact, the use of visual aids, and the organization of ideas/information.
